Knights of the Old Republic MMO confirmed by EA CEO

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) logoA Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) MMO has been revealed to be in development by none other than EA boss John Riccitiello.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1 for PC is considered one of the best RPGsKOTOR is the short name for the award-winning RPG series that was a huge hit on the original Xbox and PC with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Star Wars Knights Of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.

John Riccitiello confirmed the game in an interview at E3 2008 where he talked about the importance of MMO’s (Massively Multiplayer Online games) and how EA is going to increasingly move towards that direction, in part to tap the huge PC market, and in part to help them make inroads in the Chinese market.

He also revealed that BioWare is the company working on the new KOTOR game.

No other details were given, and we don’t know how much of an MMO it will be except that it will have a “significant MMO component to it”.
