Kid Icarus Wii artwork from Factor 5 uncovered

Kid Icarus Wii artworkDeveloper Factor 5 president Julian Eggebrecht has confirmed in an interview that they are developing a non-Virtual Console game for the Nintendo Wii. Is Factor 5 is working internally to revive Kid Icarus? They do seem to have pitched the idea to Nintendo. Newly uncovered early Kid Icarus Wii artwork for the game shows different versions from Pit’s new design in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and concept work for some of his weapons.

If Kombo’s sources ring true, the game’s plot will star a grown-up, adult Pit, who is “cursed for thousands of years for a crime and becomes a ‘fallen angel.'” The pitch adds that “a tattoo on Pit’s arm bears the inscription of Pit’s crime.”

When asked for comment on the existence of a Factor 5-developed installment in the Kid Icarus franchise, Nintendo gave the a “no comment on rumors” statement. If the rumors are true, expect Kid Icarus Wii to be revealed at E3 in mid-July 2008 right next to Animal Crossing Wii.

Update: Despite developer Factor 5 going bankrupt, Nintendo head designer Shigeru Miyamoto said in the July 2009 issue of Nintendo Power magazine that fans should “wait” for Kid Icarus to appear. Sounds like it will eventually come to Wii.
