System and game sales for March 2008 in the USA

Did you get a Wii yet?March’s American video game sales data from the NPD is in, and like almost any month past year, it shows an unsurprising result: The Nintendo Wii outsold all other systems, and this time there’s a surpising comeback by the PSP that outsold its bigger brothers. Total hardware sales were up 46% to over $551.3 million.

4. Xbox 360 — 262,000
5. PlayStation 3 — 257,000
6. PlayStation 2 — 216,000

Video game sales totals for the month are nearing one billion at $945.6 million. That’s an increase of 63% over last years already historic number! Most notable were Super Smash Bros. Brawl’s launch in America with 2.7 million sales and Call of Duty 4’s continued big sales reaching 9 million copies sold worldwide!
