Bionic Commando remake coming to Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC

Bionic Commando for NESThe latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has revealed that Capcom will release (in Japan this spring) a remake of the NES platformer Bionic Commando as a download on the Xbox 360’s Xbox Live Arcade, the PS3’s PlayStation Network and the PC.

The game will include a two-player mode and new graphics. The original Japanese version of 1988’s Bionic Commando for the NES was called Top Secret: Hitler’s Revival and had you fighting futuristic Nazis, with the final boss being Adolf Hitler. In America the game was renamed Bionic Commando: Master D Revival Plan and all references to Nazism were removed and the final boss’ name was changed to “Master-D,” even if he still resembled the evil one. — Via Teamxbox

A new Bionic Commando game is set to make a return in 3D later this year on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Strangely both the remake and the new game are absent from Wii (Virtual Console) release lists.
