The latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has revealed that Capcom will release (in Japan this spring) a remake of the NES platformer Bionic Commando as a download on the Xbox 360’s Xbox Live Arcade, the PS3’s PlayStation Network and the PC.
The game will include a two-player mode and new graphics. The original Japanese version of 1988’s Bionic Commando for the NES was called Top Secret: Hitler’s Revival and had you fighting futuristic Nazis, with the final boss being Adolf Hitler. In America the game was renamed Bionic Commando: Master D Revival Plan and all references to Nazism were removed and the final boss’ name was changed to “Master-D,” even if he still resembled the evil one. — Via Teamxbox

A new Bionic Commando game is set to make a return in 3D later this year on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Strangely both the remake and the new game are absent from Wii (Virtual Console) release lists.
