New Saints Row 2 info reveals co-op mode, bigger city and tranny surprise

Saints Row for Xbox 360THQ has revealed new info about Saints Row 2, that’s coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2008. According to the latest magazine previews, Saints Row 2 will feature a city 45% larger than the Xbox 360’s Saints Row 1, with new vehicles including motorbikes, jet-skis, speedboats, planes, and helicopters. These new aircraft you can fly into/through buildings, although without destroying the buildings for obvious 9/11 reasons.

The city size increase might seem logical for sequels, but it’s still surprising considering developer ? said about the first game that they “tried to create a city whose size would not force the player to spend most of their time just driving from point A to point B. But it is still a big world.” My guess is there will be more mini-games to fill it up.

Moving on the gameplay aspects, first up is the fact that hostages can now be taken and used as human shields, weapons can be dual-wielded and you can rip things out of the environment and use them as melee weapons.

Second is the all-important character customization, which has also been enhanced with the option to tweak your characters sex; male, female or whatever’s in-between. Transsexual gangsters, it seems, are on the agenda. Yep, it’s gone that far, tranny surprise everyone.

Last but certainly not least is the promise of a full-on Crackdown-style co-op mode allowing you to play through the single-player campaign with a friend. — Via CVG.
