Nights: Journey of Dreams is coming exclusively to the Wii on December 18th in America (January 2008 in Europe & Australia). The game’s a dreamy follow-up to the original Sega Saturn cult-classic.
This video shows extensive gameplay footage set to some really dreamy and soothing music (although it does get old after a while). You’ll see that most of the gameplay consists of flying around and through rings set in the air. The flight looks fun but I wonder how long it’ll last before it gets old. You’ll also see some on-foot sections with two children, a boy and a girl, and these sections look like an average platformer with some not-so-smooth animation. Hopefully the stilted gameplay in these sections (which is far removed from the flight) doesn’t bust the game. Sonic Team USA doesn’t exactly have the greatest track record, so I’m holding out hope that this game will be cool.
I do dig the transformations though and the game looks like it could be interesting. I never played the original so I’m eager to see how this one turns out.
