Doom RPG may be headed to Nintendo DS

Doom RPG logoDoom RPG may be heading to the Nintendo DS, which has been a likely proposition and definitely something fans have requested particularly due to the fact that John Carmack’s Orcs & Elves is already coming to Nintendo’s popular portable. Both titles are developed by John Carmack and Fountainhead Entertainment, produced by id Software and published by EA Mobile. During an interview with Fountainhead’s Anna Kang (of which Orcs & Elves was the main focus), she stated that one property they would like to bring over to DS is Doom RPG, and that they are, in fact, already talking about it.

“Well, we’ve been talking about that. We would like to bring it to the DS,” Kang said. She further added that there could be some issues with the younger audience that the handheld commands, stating “there’s a real significant change that we’d like to make, and the interesting thing is that the DS is a much younger audience gaming platform. And Doom being Doom, we’re not sure whether a mature rated game would do well on the DS.”

So let’s hope that Dementium: The Ward sells well and paves the way for more Mature titles like Doom RPG.

Doom RPG is a turn-based RPG based on the Doom franchise, with a storyline that is similar to that of Doom 3 but it involves different characters. The game brings back classic Doom weapons, enemies, music and sound-effects but in an all-new way. New weapons include the fire axe and fire extinguisher which are useful in combat against certain enemies. The dogs from Wolfenstein 3D even make an appearence as a new enemy called Hellhounds, which can even be captured as pets using a mind-control collar device, allowing you to use them as a melee weapon or shield.
