Worldwide first week sales of Halo 3 have surpassed $300 million dollars in sales worldwide!
Halo 3 was also previously announced by Microsoft to be “one of the most successful entertainment properties in history” as Halo 3 made over $170 million on it’s first day of release, surpassing tolls by such big entertainment properties as Spider-Man 3 and the Harry Potter books, making it the fastest selling video game in history. And over 4.2 million copies of Halo 3 were released to stores.
Bungie also released a statement in which they show that initial sales figures from retailers show that Halo 3 is, unsurprisingly, spurring sales of the Xbox 360 console itself, where sales of the Xbox 360 have doubled since the launch of the third chapter in the Halo series.
Naturally, Halo 3 is also doing very well on Xbox Live, where more than 2.7 million gamers had hoped online to play, which is over a third of the 7 million total registered Xbox Live users. This all adds up to Halo 3 having over forty million hours of online gaming having been played already, which is the equivalent of 4,500 years of time, in only it’s first week of release. And almost 30 million Halo 3 achievements have been unlocked so far.
