Odin Sphere developer working on new Wii action game

Odin Sphere for PS2In the latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, developer Vanillaware (of Odin Sphere and GrimGrimoire fame) revealed their new Wii-exclusive action game that’s tentatively titled Oboro Muramasa Youtouden.

Graphically it’s said to look like the beautiful 2D Odin Sphere on PS2, but with a more Japanese feudal era feel. Players can choose between Momohime, a young girl who wields a katana dressed in a kimono-like ninja costume, and Kisuke, a young ninja boy with a case of amnesia.

It’s an Adventure-RPG that uses the Wii Remote controller for sword and other various attacks. Pressing buttons and swinging the Wii Remote will wield various actions such as sword swings and ninja spells. The play mode can be quick/refreshing or hardcore/repeat over-and-over style.

Stages range from traditional cities, temples to grasslands. Players will fight against samurai warriors, ghosts, monsters and even celestial beings such as the Thunder God. The game will also feature different “modes” for players from various levels of expertise. No release date was announced. –Translation from Japanese by 1UP
