Late August the Xbox 360-exclusive Blue Dragon game was released in America and Europe. Produced by the famed Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, Mistwalker game studio and Artoon developed the RPG for Microsoft featuring the character design of Akira Toriyama (who designed Dragon Ball Z) and music by Nobuo Uematsu (the composer for Final Fantasy). A real all-star cast, together they created a story that centered on a young boy named Shu and several of his friends. These unlikely heroes possess miraculous strength and magical power to control phantom shadows that mirror the actions of their masters. Shu and company must use their shadows as weapons as they battle the evil forces and save their world from impending doom.
An anime began airing in Japan from April 2007 and features a different voice cast from the game. It airs on TV Tokyo, and is currently scheduled for 51 episodes. It will be released by Viz Media in both North America and Europe later on this year.
The first episode of the Blue Dragon Anime from Japan now has been given English subtitles online. Check out the “Invoke the Shadow” episode in three parts.
