Japanese developer Level-5 announced that it is bringing Inazuma Eleven to the Nintendo DS. The game mixes the sport of soccer with RPG elements. You battle by playing soccer with DS stylus controls like touches and swipes to make your team try and score a goal. There are Command Battle sequences where the game cuts in for close, intense battles with other players or in the one-on-one match-up with the shooter and goalie. The second DS screen highlights close-up viewpoints during matches. The game will include fully animated cinema scenes produced by OLM, the studio behind Pokemon.

Level 5 also revealed that over 1,000 characters can be recruited around your campus and town during the adventure (all with different abilities), and that Versus and Exchange multiplayer modes will be available online via the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection.

The storyline for the Adventure mode explains that you play as Mamoru Endou, captain of his junior high soccer team. All is not well with Endou and his players, as spirits are down and membership is so low that the team may not be able to play in the next game. Then one day, Shuya Gouenji, known throughout the youth soccer world as a legendary ace striker, transfers to Endou’s school. Endou convinces Gouenji to once again take to the field as the team gears up for a match with Imperial Junior High, its rival school. — From Famitsu, translated by IGN
