At the Game Developers Conference last March, Sony teased us with LocoRoco 2 trophies that could be earned in the upcoming downloadable PS3 game. Sony has now made the sequel official and tentatively titled it “Buu Buu Cocoreccho! by LocoRoco“, instead of naming it LocoRoco 2, which we could actually memorize.

Sony describes the game as “It’s LocoRoco, but it’s not — a peculiar extra chapter. Even if you don’t play it [as in control the game], the world and the LocoRoco will play [as in both playing amongst themselves and as in playing back like a video] on their own.”

The PS3 version of LocoRoco will feature 200 LocoRoco characters in a new world. You’ll be able to use the Sixaxis PS3 controller for motion-based controls.

Famitsu reports, and IGN translates, that Sony says the game is currently 95% complete, so that LocoRoco 2 (for PSP) release date on October 17th 2007 in Europe doesn’t seem so strange now if the PS3 game also allows itself to be uploaded for play on your PSP.

Ending this with a suitable LocoRoco OST music video.
