Peter Moore resigns from Microsoft to head EA Sports

Peter MooreBased on his previous experiences with the Sega Dreamcast and after the low market share of Xbox back in 2003, Microsoft hired Peter Moore to to help the Xbox 360 compete with other next generation consoles.

The former corporate vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business, has decided to move his family back to the Bay Area for personal reasons and has secured another opportunity in the video games industry. Namely to head the Sports division at Electronic Arts.

This move was announced after Electronic Arts completed its internal reorganization into four main labels: Games, Casual Entertainment, The Sims, and EA Sports. The other labels will be run by the following people: Frank Gibeau was announced as the President of the EA Games Label, Kathy Vrabeck will be the President of EA Casual Entertainment and Nancy Smith will be the President of The Sims. And back at Microsoft, Don Mattrick, a former president at Electronic Arts will be taking over from Peter Moore on all things Xbox 360 this August. Want to know why he’s smiling in that photo? EA paid $1.5 million for Moore, his salary will be $550,000 a year and they paid $330,000 for him to relocate.
