Killer Instinct 3 and Jet Force Gemini 2 denied on Xbox 360, no info on other Rare games until Banjo Threeie is finished

Killer Instinct for SNESLast year’s Killer Instinct 3 rumors (and lord knows how long before that) just won’t die. So Rare answered yesterday’s Scribes (their Q&A column since 1998) reader question “Does Rare have any plans of making a new, edgier, and stylistically better Killer Instinct game, be it on a home console or on arcade machine?” that also requested various other sequels, and got the following answer:

Jet Force Gemini for N64“All that build-up, and then it comes crashing down into the anticlimax of ‘are you making Killer Instinct 3 or Jet Force Gemini 2 or an RPG’? Purely out of contractual obligation, no, we’re not working on Killer Instinct 3, no, we don’t have a secret team in the basement finishing off Jet Force Gemini 2, no, we’re not brainstorming an exciting sequel to It’s Mr. Pants and traditionally we’re not big players in the RPG market either. Until we’re ready to unveil some of the games beyond the new Banjo that we are working on.”

Rare has denied this because they signed a contract to secrecy, so it all depends on when Banjo-Threeie comes to Xbox 360 that we’ll hear something about any other games. Banjo & Kazooie don’t have a release date in 2007 yet, so we can assume it’ll be until sometime in 2008 when we’ll hear what other games Rare are planning.
