The Sims 2: Pets review video (Wii)

The Sims 2: Pets for WiiThe Sims 2: Pets for the Wii uses the accessible Wii controls to create pets for your Sims to train, play with, and love as their own. Not only do players have the opportunity to choose from a variety of existing breeds, and the latest designer mixes, but they can also personally design their new furry friends with the Create-a-Pet feature. The ability to customize gives players the opportunity to create their ideal pet by choosing their body shape, unique markings, even their pets’ personalities. With so many different animals to choose from, there’s no telling what unpredictable experiences could occur.

The addition of a new friend for The Sims 2: Pets for the Wii is sure to enrich the daily lives of your Sims. Players can also to teach their pets new tricks, take them for a romp in the park, outfit them with new pet accessories and even give them jobs. As in real life, your Sims’ pets require care and training. A neglected cat with an urge to scratch might claw up your new couch if you aren’t careful, and leaving your dog unattended near a freshly planted flower bed probably isn’t wise.

With a lack of content and an overabundance of bugs, Wii owners should wait and hope MySims can fulfill their virtual person needs. Find out why in this The Sims 2: Pets video review.

To quote the video review: “What’s really disappointing about the Wii version is the absence of numerous features from the PC game. Pets can’t get jobs. Sims don’t age or gain weight. There are no random wolves or skunks wandering into the yard. You can’t turn into a werewolf, and it doesn’t appear that sims can be killed or turn into ghosts. We did try to starve a sim by putting her in a house without doors or food, but she merely fainted for a few hours. The biggest omission is that, while pets can have puppies and kittens, the sims themselves have apparently been spayed and neutered since there is no way to have children.

The Sims 2: Pets for Wii is nothing more than slapdash and second-rate. There’s enough left for it to be enjoyable, but with a lack of content and an overabundance of bugs, players are better off getting the PC version or waiting to see if MySims can pick up the slack.”
