Pre-Order World in Conflict for PCWell it looks like a new era is now upon us. Where once it was unheard of to bring an PC RTS to consoles, now it is becoming the norm (at least for the Xbox 360).

The latest in this wave is Massive Entertainment & Sierra’s upcoming World in Conflict, which is set in an alternate universe where the Soviet Union and United States fight World War III during the early 21st century, and it attempts to turn the RTS genre on its head by removing both resource farming and a fixed camera perspective while delivering extremely compelling gameplay and visuals.

This game follows in the footsteps of the already released Xbox 360 RTS titles Battle for Middle-earth II and Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. And nearly a half-dozen RTS games are coming to the 360 in the months ahead, including Halo Wars, Universe at War: Earth Assault, and Tom Clancy’s EndWar.

A release date for the Xbox 360 version of World in Conflict has not yet been announced, but the PC version will be hitting the U.S. in September this year.

The game itself will look simply amazing. Check out an awesome CG trailer for the game below.
