S.T.A.L.K.E.R. developer hints at console version and/or PC update

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl for PCConsole iterations of the so far PC-only shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl may not be so far off.

The game’s project lead, Anton Bolshakov, recently made this remark, “THQ’s involvement shaped the final game and how certain features originally planned were cut or put aside for the next iteration,” which has led some to believe an Xbox 360 or PS3 version of the game may be in development.

In an interview, Bolshakov also let it slip that, “We’re preparing a big update with a new game mode – Freeplay, with no story tasks, including only the A-life driven ones, where the goal is to gain ranks, climb up in rankings, so as to become the best S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in the Zone.”

When we are to expect the update wasn’t revealed, but when speaking about the future of the game, Bolshakov did mention that they are working on getting a new single-player SDK released since the multiplayer SDK is now in stores.

More updates on this are to be expected at E3, where Bolshakov said they’d reveal more details. Thankfully E3 is coming up fast (next month) so it won’t be that long of a wait till we know the truth.
