Stan Lee signs deal with Disney to create over 20 new characters for games, movies, comics, etc.

Spider-Man 2.1 on DVDStan Lee is still kicking and still going strong. The 84-year old creator of such iconic superheroes as Spider-Man, X-Men, The Fantastic Four and The Hulk, has just signed a new deal with Disney.

In the deal, Stan Lee will create 20 brand-new superhero characters. And should that not be enough, he says he has ideas for at least 20 more. And even more after if that’s not enough!

Some of the characters he’s created for Disney include: El Lobo, Chameleon, Thunder Rider, Whirlwind, Doubleman, Nightbird, and Blaze. All of whom are in “active development” and will be used in upcoming Disney properties that may include books, movies, video games, comics and whatever else they can slap a superhero on and make money with.

Lee says, “I’ve got millions of ideas. I have file cabinets filled with ideas for movies and television shows and all sorts of things.” And it’s just as well cause, as everyone knows, superheros are big business. Spider-Man 3 shattered records, X-Men III: The Last Stand grossed $45 million dollars on it’s opening day, and Disney-owned properties like The Incredibles movie also did incredibly well (pardon the pun).

Let’s just hope that these new characters are used well and not slapped on everything that comes into the minds of the suits at Disney. I’m sure there will be some new Disney channel superhero cartoons coming out of this group, eh.
