Namco Bandai 2006 profits up thanks to million-sellers Tekken: Dark Resurrection and Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2
Earlier this month Namco Bandai Holdings announced details of the company’s full year 2006 results (that’s between April 2006 till March 2007), which showed net profits growth of 71% to 24.2 billion Yen ($201.9 million), despite net sales growth of less than 2%, and slower than expected PlayStation 3 sales.
The company’s bestselling game of the year was Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 on PlayStation 2 (and Nintendo Wii?), with 1.2 million units sold. This was followed by Tekken: Dark Resurrection on PSP (and PlayStation 3?) with 1 million units sold and Tamagotchi: Corner Shop 2 on Nintendo DS with 900,000 units sold.
Not including localized titles, Namco Bandai sold: 63 different games on the PlayStation 2 during the financial year, together with 6 PlayStation 3 titles, 7 Xbox 360 games, 5 Nintendo Wii games, 50 PSP titles and 42 Nintendo DS titles. — Via Gamasutra
