Namco Bandai aren’t just working on a fighting game sequel Soul Calibur 4. There were hints of a new Soul Calibur Adventure before. But today the developer announced a third person action adventure taking place in the same series, titled Soul Calibur Legends, as a Wii exclusive game. No release date was announced.

The announcement says Seigfried takes point in the storyline, but Namco Bandai promises players will play their favorites from the series along with introducing some new faces as well. Not much else is known about the story, though, other than understanding the characters come together to complete “a quest for ultimate power in order to save an empire from destruction.”

“Over the past ten years, since the release of the original Soul Blade, the team behind the Soul Calibur series has pushed the envelope of technology and innovation with each iteration,” said Makoto Iwai, exec. VP and COO of Namco Bandai America. “With Soul Calibur Legends, they saw the opportunity to once again create an immersive experience that is unique to the franchise.”

1UP, who got the scoop, mentions the control scheme is still unknown, but that it’s said to incorporate both the Wii Remote Controller and Nunchuck simultaneously. For example, there should be something more than simply swinging the Wii Remote around for sword fighting action. As more fighting experience is gathered, however, players can earn titles (like Knight or Soldier) that unlock additional attacks.
