Pokemon Diamond and Pearl launched in America today. If you visit Pokemon.com you can watch the celebrations live online from New York City! A lot of it is aimed at kids, there are over 10,000 people, but the presenters even interviewed the DS games’ creators who said they took three years to make the game and they think online battling is the most exciting new feature. It’s awesome to see pokefans from Japan & America exchange friend codes to trade and battle here on-site. European trainers will join them in June.

It’s the first DS chapter of the continuing saga of Nintendo’s “gotta catch ’em all” RPG series. Watch some videogamers talk about the game while they play:

A wild Turtwig appears! …

*waggle waggle* Ah there we go… he finally arrives!

Time for a dance off, dance po-kay-mon!
The best part is halfway through when someone from the audience tries to catch Pikachu with a pokeball! Haha!
