Ouendan 2 rhythm game for Japan, Elite Beat Agents 2 possible?

Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 1 for DS at Amazon JapanOsu! Tatakae! Ouendan” means “Go! Fight! Cheer Squad” is a rhythm game developed by iNiS and published in Japan only by Nintendo for the DS on July 28th 2005. Ouendan stars a cheer squad rhythmically cheering for various troubled people and was very popular with importers (that helped it sell to 60,000 a year ago) because of it’s wacky Japanese pop tunes (list at Wikipedia).

Elite Beat Agents for DS at Amazon AmericaInstead of just translating Ouendan, on November 6th 2006 Nintendo released a new iNiS-developed game titled “Elite Beat Agents” to the North American market. This game features the same game play as Ouendan, but with a different song list geared towards western audiences. The all-new scenarios in the game have also been tailored towards a western audience. Several general game play improvements were made as well. It’ll be released on March 1st 2007 in Europe.

Today, Nintendo of Japan announced a sequel to Ouendan, titled “Moero! Nekketsu Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm-Damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2” meaning “Burn! Hot-Blooded Rhythm Soul Go! Fight! Cheer 2”. The sequel is confirmed to have 1 to 4-player wireless play, no further game details were revealed. The game is set for release in Japan in 2007.

So unless this turns out to be the American Elite Beat Agents translated into Japanese, it’d be possible for Americans to get a new Elite Beat Agents 2 sequel as well.
