Blue Dragon anime based on the Xbox 360 RPG coming

TV Tokyo will broadcast an anime series based on Mistwalker’s Blue Dragon, the Xbox 360 exclusive RPG, starting in April 2007. While the game was developed by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and Dragon Ball Z & Dragon Quest artist Akira Toriyama… but they won’t be doing the anime.

The anime adaption will be directed by Yukihiro Matsushita, and Siliconera has translated the Japanese announcement says: “Studio Pierrot known for their work on Bleach and Naruto is producing the series. Something to note is that the voice cast in the anime is different from the game. Shu, the main character, is voiced by Keiko Nemoto who is Shizune in Naruto.”

With a little luck Microsoft might bring the anime over to the west for a game-anime cross-promotion, like they did for Viva Pinata. Although that’s just speculation on my part, at least you’ll be able to play an English version of the Blue Dragon game sometime in 2007.
