New The Sims game on Wii and DS titled My Sims, latest details revealed including autumn 2007 release date

Sims Wii expressionThe latest issue of the Official Nintendo Magazine (UK) reveals the new Sims game for Wii & DS, which is known as “Me and the Town of Sims” in Japan, will be released worldwide as “My Sims“. This new Wii & DS version is part of the upcoming series of The Sims games. The release date is in the autumn of 2007.

* You start off in a small rundown town with few residents. As fix up your house and brighten up the town, you will attract people to come live in your town, similar to towns in Animal Crossing.

* The character design may look simple, but there are a lot of editing features. You can tweak individual facial features, skin, clothing style and even add tattoos.

* Unlike The Sims 2, in My Sims you wander around town meeting people. The magazine says: “By using the relationships menu you can keep tabs on who likes you, who thinks you could do with a wash, and who wouldn’t spit on you if you were on fire.”

* A simple block-building mechanic lets you “build things like chairs and tables [and other furniture & accessories] from scratch instead of just ordering them from a catalogue.” You can also modify houses in an equally flexible way.

* A new feature is “Essence”, which allows you to take the essence (color or pattern) of objects in the game to decorate your house with. You can also plant seeds to grow flowers, similar to the farming system in Harvest Moon.

* When characters in your green town start to feel miserable or start to hate your town, they’ll go away to a Volcano area (let’s hope that’s not hell).

* There will be 80 characters in the Wii version and around 30 in the DS one.
