PS3 Sixaxis controller nominated for technology Emmy

Sony Playstation 3 Wireless Sixaxis ControllerSony’s PlayStation 3 wireless Sixaxis controller has been honored by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with a Technology and Engineering Emmy. And I don’t think there’s anyone not baffled Nintendo’s Wii remote controller didn’t get the honor.

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) received this honor at an awards presentation at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2007 that runs from January 8-11 in Las Vegas.

Sony‘s press release describes the Sixaxis wireless controller was nominated because it features motion-sensing technology to detect natural and intuitive movements for real-time and high precision interactive play, acting as a natural extension of the user’s body.

SCEA will be honored with several other awards at CES for the technology and innovative engineering behind PS3 including the CES Best of Innovations Award for 2007, PC World’s 20 Most Innovative Products Award, Sound & Vision’s Editor’s Choice Award and Digital Entertainment Group’s Emiel N. Petrone Digital Innovation Award. Via Engadget
