Resident Evil 5 interview with producer Jun Takeuchi suggests 2008 release date

Resident Evil 5 will have more interactive environments than Resident Evil 4Japanese magazine Famitsu interviewed Jun Takeuchi about Resident Evil 5. Jun Takeuchi is the producer on Resident Evil 5 and he has previously worked as the motion designer on Resident Evil 2. QJ did a rough translation of the interview.

He’s pitching that this next Resident Evil installment, that’s coming out for both the Xbox 360 and PS3, could only possibly be available by 2008. However, the long wait could be worth it as Mr. Takeuchi states that Capcom wants the picture rate to run on 60fps.

The engine they’re using makes it possible for them to produce realistic facial expressions and animations. They’re even boasting of some good hair days for the characters as each strand of hair would be modeled from root to tip!

Takeuchi also reveals that Resident Evil 5 will have more interactive environments this time around, much more interactive than its predecessors. More than this, he even hints that hot and cold temperatures would play a crucial element in the gameplay. The temperature of your surroundings would supposedly determine your character’s stability.
