Boulder Dash by JVC for NintendoThe early 80s computer game Boulder Dash returns on handhelds. The underground search for diamonds found in Boulder Dash has made it one of the most well-known, published and licensed games in the past two decades.

Now 10tacle Studios has signed an agreement with First Star Software to develop the next dexterity-puzzle game in the multi-million unit selling Boulder Dash series for the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP. The release date is planned for the second half of 2007.

The development of a new “Boulder Dash” game for the popular handheld platforms allows 10tacle Studios to expand their mobile games line-up even further.

10tacle Studios Mobile Managing Director Alexandra Gerb, “With Boulder Dash we are proud to be able to continue one of the oldest and most famous brands in computer games. The tried and true concept has already delighted generations of computer, video game and coin-operated arcade gamers, and now we want to give the brand our own accent by adding a number of innovations designed to take advantage of the capabilities these new platforms have to offer. We want to lend protagonist Rockford’s adventures a fresh, modern style to get him into shape for the years to come.”

“Recently, the brand was successfully implemented for mobile phones, PDA’s and online platforms”, said First Star Software President Richard M. Spitalny, “and we are happy to see 10tacle Studios’ promising new concepts bring the popular action-puzzle game to new target groups using current handheld consoles and the latest technologies.”
