Four PS3 launch games will require a firmware update before you’ll be able to play them. Much like what happens with Sony’s PSP, you’ll see an alert that says you must upgrade to a newer firmware version before playing. Madden NFL 07, Genji 2: Days of the Blade, Ridge Racer 7 and Resistance: Fall of Man will all require a system update to version 1.02. The update ships on the disc so that you won’t need to be online to download anything.
When you first turn on your Nintendo Wii. A screen will appear saying: “Please insert your Wii Startup Disc. This will set up your Wii console.” Since production of the console began ahead of Nintendo finishing the channels displaying your Wii’s functions, they’ve included this Startup Disc that does a firmware update, so all additional channels and features are added. Unlike Sony’s PS3/PSP updates aimed at stopping hackers again & again, the Wii update will be a one time thing.
