Disciples III: Renaissance expected this fall

Disciples 2 Gold1up reports that Disciples III: Renaissance has been in development for PC since last summer at Russian developer and publisher Akella with collaboration from Strategy First and Akella development partner .Dat Company. The game is being built upon .Dat Company’s in-house Virtual Dream engine and looks to include a number of new gameplay features.

The sequel will feature The Empire, The Legions of the Damned, and the Noble Elves as the three playable races, and while combat will remain strictly turn-based as per the series’ history, .Dat Company is making improvements via an improved initiative timer-based system and more interactions between statistical elements.

“Akella and .dat intend to create the most exciting game in the series – keeping the basis of Disciples and Disciples II we will introduce new features in order to provide gamers with more interesting gameplay and realistic graphics,” says Akella VP of development Dmitry Arkhipov.

Though a release date hasn’t been nailed down just yet, a fall release is expected
