One of the newest Mortal Kombat 2011 characters to join the roster will be Rain, whose downloadable content has a release date on July 19th for Xbox 360 and PS3.
The classic purple ninja from Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Mortal Kombat Trilogy will join the already mightily impressive roster of 29 characters (including the recently released Kenshi and Skarlet DLC characters); bumping that up to an even-more-impressive 30 even!
Huzzah!
Here is the debut trailer for Rain.
Rain was one of my favorite characters in the N64 version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy so I am delighted to see him return! Despite the fact that he only had 3 Special Moves, he was still a deadly combatant.
In MKT and UMK3 he only had three Special Moves.

Our Mortal Kombat 2011 Krypt Guide will show you what’s inside every Crypt Treasure Chest as well as where they are located. Doing so and unlocking all of them will give you a 100% completion.
However there are also four hidden chests within the Krypt, and we’ll show you where to find those as well. Remember that there are no Klassic Kostumes (which were given out by various retailers as pre-order bonuses) found within the Krypt or Fatalities. Hopefully the oldschool outfits will be released down the road as paid downloadable content, allowing those who didn’t pre-order the game to get the extra Classic Costumes via DLC. As far as the Klassic Fatalities go, you can perform them as long as you know how! See our All Mortal Kombat 2011 Fatalities, Babalities Guide for more info on that front.
In celebration of Fatality Friday, I pose this question: What is your favorite MK game of all time?
With bloody satisfaction and brutal bloodlust pumping through everyone’s veins as they dig into their opponents with the just released Mortal Kombat 2011, and hot on the heels of my question posted earlier this week asking who your favorite Mortal Kombat character of all time was, I now pose the next most logical question.
Depending on how far back your gaming history goes, you’ll most likely have a completely different answer than those who only got into Mortal Kombat in the modern era. There are also several distinct schools of thought on the art of Mortal Kombat, and one thing is certain in the universe, those who love Mortal Kombat 2 will always want to brutally slay those who love Mortal Kombat 3. No compromise for these politicians!
But even more interesting than the core list of titles is the much smaller list of Mortal Kombat spin-offs (some people will not be denied their love of MK Mythologies: Sub-Zero). Given all this, it will be really interesting to see how our readers feel about the MK series in general and if you had to pick one, which title would be your ultimate favorite. Remember to include Mortal Kombat 2011 in the running if you’ve played it. And feel free to denote what VERSION is your favorite as well, be it SNES, Genesis, Arcade, N64, PS1, GameCube, PC or original Xbox, everyone has their preferences!
So once again, what Mortal Kombat game is your all time favorite?
