Episode 4: Kitana & Mileena (Part 1)
Beautiful, athletic, and trained as highly skilled assassins, Kitana and Mileena have grown up thinking that they are sisters. Shao Kahn, Emperor of the Outworld, has tricked Shang Tsung into becoming his servant for Mortal Kombat by making him clone Mileena as a Tarkatan clone of Kitana, out of Shao Kahn’s fear that Kitana wouldn’t love him enough if she ever found out the truth about her Mother and Father.

Directed by Kevin Tancharoen

Produced by Kevin Tancharoen, Lance Sloane, Tim Carter

Mortal Kombat: Legacy brings to life the complex and rich history of the gaming world of MORTAL KOMBAT. Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung are obsessed with reigning over various realms (parallel universes) and the winners of Mortal Kombat competitions are granted supreme control over these worlds. The Earthrealm (Earth) is an unconscious participant in this competition and only a few select humans understand the consequences of losing Mortal Kombat and what it will mean to Earth. In a universe with powerful evil sorcerers, cyborgs, Gods and movie stars, this Mortal Kombat digital media series drives a cohesive understanding of what this Universe is all about.

What is your favorite Mortal Kombat game of all time?

Mortal Kombat 1 cast artwork
In celebration of Fatality Friday, I pose this question: What is your favorite MK game of all time?

With bloody satisfaction and brutal bloodlust pumping through everyone’s veins as they dig into their opponents with the just released Mortal Kombat 2011, and hot on the heels of my question posted earlier this week asking who your favorite Mortal Kombat character of all time was, I now pose the next most logical question.

Depending on how far back your gaming history goes, you’ll most likely have a completely different answer than those who only got into Mortal Kombat in the modern era. There are also several distinct schools of thought on the art of Mortal Kombat, and one thing is certain in the universe, those who love Mortal Kombat 2 will always want to brutally slay those who love Mortal Kombat 3. No compromise for these politicians!

Mortal Kombat 1,2,3,4 logos

But even more interesting than the core list of titles is the much smaller list of Mortal Kombat spin-offs (some people will not be denied their love of MK Mythologies: Sub-Zero). Given all this, it will be really interesting to see how our readers feel about the MK series in general and if you had to pick one, which title would be your ultimate favorite. Remember to include Mortal Kombat 2011 in the running if you’ve played it. And feel free to denote what VERSION is your favorite as well, be it SNES, Genesis, Arcade, N64, PS1, GameCube, PC or original Xbox, everyone has their preferences!

So once again, what Mortal Kombat game is your all time favorite?

LIST OF CORE MORTAL KOMBAT GAMES

  • Mortal Kombat 1,
  • Mortal Kombat 2,
  • Mortal Kombat 3,
  • Mortal Kombat 4,
  • Mortal Kombat Trilogy,
  • Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3,
  • Mortal Kombat Gold,
  • Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance,
  • Mortal Kombat Deception,
  • Mortal Kombat Armaggedoon,

    New Mortal Kombat Mini-series announced

Mortal Kombat: Rebirth tv series screenshot
Remember the live-action Mortal Kombat movie-like trailer that appeared online last June and threw the gaming world upside down? And is now officially referred to as “Mortal Kombat Rebirth”.

It eventually turned out to be a fan-made proof-of-concept trailer by director Kevin Tancharoen (and starring some B-list celebrities like Michael Jai White as Jax and Jeri Ryan as Sonya), in his bid to convince Warner Bros. to allow him to make a new MK-feature film based on his brutal, extremely dark, realistically violent take on the series.

While he didn’t get exactly what he wanted, he has gotten the next best thing!

Warner Bros. has given Tancharoen permission to produce a 10-part “webisode” series of online videos that will chronicle the characters of Mortal Kombat as demonstrated in Mortal Kombat: Rebirth, complete with Michael Jai White (Spawn, Black Dynamite, Undisputed 2) returning for the webisode series as main character Jackson “Jax” Briggs.

Apparently the series may even lay the groundwork for an upcoming film (this will undoubtedly depend on how successful the webisode series is. But considering that the MK: Rebirth trailer has over 3 million views on youtube, I don’t think that will be an issue).

Other characters who will reportedly be featured in the new webisode series include: Shao Kahn, Shang Tsung, Liu Kang, Sub Zero, Durak, Kabal, Kitana, Mileena and Scorpion.

Kick-ASS. I honestly cannot freakin’ wait for this. Hopefully all 10 installments will be as good as the Mortal Kombat: Rebirth short film was. And hopefully that will be followed by a feature film.

In case you missed Mortal Kombat: Rebirth. Here it is in all its uncut, brutal glory. Viewer discretion definitely advised, the thing is bloody, brutal and very violent
