For additional context — and if you’re enthusiastic! — it’s advisable that you check out the reviews of the two previous games in the series: Sands of Time and Warrior Within. Furthermore, here a summary of the ideas and relationship between games of the Prince of Persia trilogy can be found, with more Prince of Persia series-related posts to follow.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will be remembered for two things: its revitalization of the platforming genre (without need of the “kiddy” attire) and almost ungame-like narrative. Its sequel Warrior Within will be remembered as an abandonment of these ideals; a return to shallow video game tropes paraded about in all their triteness. The Two Thrones attempts to meet these two games in the middle; a pastiche of both flavours, borrowing graciously and carving a new identity for itself from within the hybridity.
System: PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, Microsoft Windows PC, Wii and PSP (titled Prince of Persia: Rival Swords on Wii and PSP)
Genre: Adventure, Platforming
Release date: December 1st, 2005 (April 3rd, 2007 Wii & PSP)
Players: 1
Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
Publisher: Ubisoft
Origin: Canada

Newly added to the Sony family is the PS3 Slim. Clocking in at a cheap $299 price point, it is a super skinny version of the by comparison fat PS3 system.
Let’s start you out with an official video from Sony’s Jack Tretton announcing the PS3 Slim and its new features, as well as some of the improvements over the PS3. Watch it here:
Here are the differences in the new PS3 Slim:
* The same PS3 you know in a much slimmer package. The chassis is thinner vertically and horizonatally. However instead of a rectangle it is almost a square, as it is much deeper than the previous system. It’s also 32% smaller and 36% lighter.
* It consumes 34% less power than the previous model.
* The touch-sensitive buttons for power and eject are gone, replaced with ACTUAL buttons (depressable keys that aren’t touch sensitive but must be pressed). The back standby power switch has also been removed.
* The PS3 Slim is now a 120GB model, up from 80GB.
* The PlayStation logo has been changed, no more Spider-Man font!
* You don’t have the ability to install a second operating system on this model.
* There is no backwards compatability so the system won’t play PS2 games. However it will play some PS1 games on disc. And, naturally, you can download games from the PlayStation Store, including classic PS1 titles.
* You can still upgrade the HDD with one of your own. If you can figure out how.
* There is no IR port added. Though you can use the Logitech Harmony remotes, a $60 adapter that translates IR commands to Bluetooth.
* There are no ports for Compact Flash Cards, Memory Sticks or SD Cards. It does have USB ports though.
* The system seems to play Blu-ray movies, DVDs, and CDs just the same as before. You can also stream media from other PCs or DLNA-capable media servers for instant action.
* However the disc drive is louder than before when playing games (but not movies or Blu-rays).
* In the box you get: the console, a single Dual Shock 3 controller, USB cable (for charging the controller), AC power cord, and composite AV cable. There are no bundled games in this version of the PS3.
* The system cannot be stood vertically. It’s so skinny it’ll fall over too easily. Though Sony will apparently sell a stand for it.
* The system lacks the shine and polish of the original PS3. Instead it has a matte finish. This means that it doesn’t suck up fingerprints like there’s no tomorrow. However some people think it makes it look “cheap and plastic-y, like a toy.” Personal preference should come into play though, as some people prefer no fingerprints to a prettier design.
Here is a comparison video of the original PS3 to the Slim.

If you own Guitar Hero: Smash Hits, then you can import 21 out of the 48 song soundtrack into your copy of Guitar Hero 5, at a cost of $2.
This is similar to the fact that you can only import 32 of the 85 songs from Guitar Hero World Tour into Guitar Hero 5. In the case of Smash Hits, you can import less than half.
But regardless, importing some songs is better than none. Here is the list of songs with corresponding videos.
1. AFI – “Miss Murder”
2. Anthrax – “Caught In A Mosh”
3. The Exies – “Hey You”
4. Extreme – “Play With Me”
5. Foo Fighters – “Monkey Wrench”
6. Iron Maiden – “The Trooper”
7. Joan Jett & The Blackhearts – “I Love Rock ‘N Roll”
8. Kiss – “Rock And Roll All Nite”
9. Living Colour – “Cult Of Personality”
10. Lynyrd Skynyrd – “Free Bird”
11. Motley Crue – “Shout At The Devil”
12. Nirvana – “Heart-Shaped Box”
13. Pat Benatar – “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”
14. Poison – “Nothin’ But A Good Time”
15. The Police – “Message In A Bottle”
16. Queens Of The Stone Age – “No One Knows”
17. Reverend Horton Heat – “Psychobilly Freakout”
18. Rush – “Yyz”
19. The Sword – “Freya”
20. Twisted Sister – “I Wanna Rock”
21. Wolfmother – “Woman”

The NPD Group has released a new study called “Kids & Cross-Entertainment Behaviors Report”. This follows on the heels of the U.S. overall monthly industry sales falling 16% year-to-year to $908.7 million in August.
The report details the importance of kids to the videogame industry as a whole and gives some interesting statistics, like the following:
* Kids 12 and under accounted for 24% of game industry sales for the first half of 2009.
* Households that have kids under 12 account for 45% of total videogame industry sales.
* 57% of kids ages 2 to 12 play videogames.
* 62% of kids ages 2 to 12 use a computer for leisure activities outside of school work.
* There are 53.4 million kids ages 12 and under in the U.S.
* Kids under 12 account for 17% of the population of the United States.
* 75% of the tween group (which I guess is between 10 and 14) play videogames.
* 81% of the tween group use a computer for leisure activities outside of school.
Overall, the NPD Group suggests that game publishers and developers would be wise to more aggressively target these specific kid and tween groups, as there is still significant room for growth. And this could be a huge help during such a recession where the overall industry is trending downward sales-wise.
