…E3 is usually held in May, each year, at the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) in Los Angeles. The ESA said that over 70,000 people attended the show in 2005. The E3 2006 will run from May 10 to 12, days start at 9:00AM PST (5:00PM Greenwich Mean Time). Wednesday starts the three days of the exposition. This is where the attendees get to move around the floors.

Over 540,000 square feet (50,000 m2) are available for exhibition space across the five halls. Many video game developers show off their upcoming games and game-related hardware at the event, over a fifth of which have never been unveiled prior to the expo. More than 400 companies from 90 countries are expected to show off their games in an attempt to grab a slice of an industry worth an annual $27 billion worldwide.

Sony held its pre-E3 conference on May 8, from 2PM Pacific Standard Time (10PM Greenwich Mean Time), at the Sony Pictures Studio in Culver City, California. Sony is expected to finally confirm the Playstation 3’s price point and show playable Playstation 3 games, and finalize any remaining details left from the Game Developers Conference news in March.

Nintendo held its pre-E3 conference on May 9, from 9:30AM Pacific Standard Time (5:30PM Greenwich Mean Time), at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, California. Attendees can expect to hear more details on the Nintendo Wii console, the Virtual console, be shown games, and get more information concerning its unique controller as there’s still a “secret” in the air.

Microsoft held its pre-E3 conference on May 9, from 11:30AM Pacific Standard Time (7:30PM Greenwich Mean Time), at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Microsoft is not expected to hold back this year, even though it has already launched the Xbox 360. Halo 3 could be the next big thing for the console, as well as much more downloadable games/media on the way.
