Vane Indie Game Announced from The Last Guardian Devs (PC First)

Indie Game “Vane” has been announced from former “The Last Guardian”, “Battlefield 3”, “Bionic Commando” and “Killzone” developers, who formed a Tokyo-based game studio in 2014 called “Friend & Foe”.

Check out this new behind-the-scenes trailer for “Vane” from the Game Awards 2015.

So what is “Vane”, you ask?

SYNOPSIS

“A recurring dream a thousand years old.

A land shut off from the world by walls of sand.

A glimmering power enslaving the ones within.

A child with an odd ability stuck in a strange land. A dangerous natural environment inhabited by a strange civilization.

Vane is an open-world adventure game based on mystery and exploration.

Vane is a single-player game being developed by a few ex-members of The Last Guardian team.

The game focuses on unraveling the mysteries of an unknown land via exploration, puzzle-solving and other features yet to be revealed, in an atmospheric and powerful setting.”

Here is the original Vane teaser trailer from the Game Developers Conference 2014.

“Thomas Lilja” is the composer for the amazing music you hear in the trailer above, by the way.

Vane developer Friend & Foe consists five people: ‘Resident Wiseman’, Illustrator, & Accountant “Ivar Dahlberg”; Environment Artist and Art Director “Rasmus Deguchi”; Studio Head “Thomas Lilja”, who will also create the studio’s sound and music; “Rui ‘Mad Dog’ Guerreiro”, who oversees Art & Coding and “Victor Santaquiteria”, who is working on Friend & Foe’s other new game, “Dangerous Men” (Description: “Two cops, one city and tons of explosions! Dangerous Men is an action arcade game based on 80’s buddy cop movies, featuring a city-wide explosionfest as detectives Dan & Don literally jump from explosion to explosion to clear the city of the ‘Punk Gang’ menace.”)

You can follow the development of Vane over at their official devlog.

Vane will release first on PC, “When it’s done”, and will come to other possible platforms at a later date.

I love the graphical style in Indie Game Vane.

“Vane” definitely looks like a winner. It’s got the whole “Journey” aesthetic going on, and that is nothing but a positive statement.

Given the Journey trappings, it will be interesting to see what Vane brings to the table to differentiate itself.

The ability to, apparently, transform yourself into a bird, could be quite fascinating and really add to the exploration element.

I am absolutely loving both the stylish art-style and the music… I love me some exploration and adventure gaming, so Vane is right up my alley!

Are you excited for the teeny-tiny bit of Vane that we’ve seen so far?
