How To Play Classic Wolfenstein 3D

While last year’s Wolfenstein: The New Order featured a homage to the 1992 id Software original Wolfenstein 3D — hiding that classic game’s first level as a nightmare experience Easter Egg.

Now with Wolfenstein: The Old Blood that Nightmare Mode has returned. Developer MachineGame’s Managing Director & Executive Producer, Jerk Gustafsson, has confirmed that “Episode 1: Escape from Wolfenstein” of Wolfenstein 3D can be found in its entirety by carefully exploring the contents of Wolfenstein: The Old Blood.

There are 9 Nightmare levels in Wolfenstein: The Old Blood — 1 for each of the 9 chapter in the game, including the boss fight with Hans Grösse and the secret level (Floor 10). The levels themselves are accurate, but the placement of objects and type of objects has been tweaked a bit for gameplay’s sake.

How To Find All 9 Levels: In each Wolfenstein: The Old Blood chapter you should look for a secret room with an empty bed with a light and Wolfenstein 3D poster above it. Walk up to the bed’s pillow and you’ll get the “Nightmare” indicator on-screen. Hold the action button to activate a bonus level… 1 of 9 level from the classic Wolfenstein 3D! You get to play until you die and then you’ll wake up again in the bedroom you were in.

One improvement for Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is that players will be able to replay each Nightmare level. As soon as you wake up from a Nightmare – by dying, by completing the level or by using the new “wake up” option — you will always be able to go back to bed and enter the Nightmare again.

How To Find The 10th Secret Level: As you enter the first level Nightmare of Wolfenstein 3D, you’ll find yourself on Floor 1 of the classic game. Go to the end of Floor 1 in a room where the Floor 2 elevator is, then turn right and search the wall to find a hidden room. Search the walls there until you find an elevator to the secret level #10 called “Floor 10”.

In the previous Wolfenstein game the following cheats menu would unlock. It’s likely this menu will return in the PC version of this new game.

Console Commands:

To activate all Wolfenstein: The Old Blood cheats, during gameplay you should press on the CTRL + ~ (that last symbol is a tilde) keys at the same time to bring up the command console. After that you can lookup below what cheats there are & what their codes to enter are.
