The Awakened Fate Ultimatum Release Date Announced. Roguelike RPG for PS3

The Awakened Fate Ultimatum release date is March 17, 2015 in America & March 20th in Europe, exclusively for PlayStation 3. This Roguelike RPG with Disgaea-style humor is the sequel to “The Guided Fate Paradox” (released for PS3 in 2013), a dungeon crawler RPG which itself was the spiritual successor to a lil-known but critically acclaimed Nippon Ichi PSP RPG called “Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger VS Darkdeath Evilman“.

Check out the debut trailer for The Awakened Fate Ultimatum.

It’s extremely worth noting that this game is a standalone title, so you do not have to have played “The Guided Fate Paradox” to enjoy “The Awakened: Fate Ultimatum”; although if you have, you will find a few nods to the previous game. And thusly you need absolutely no knowledge of the aforementioned PSP title “Z.H.P.” to enjoy either of these two spiritual successors. Of course there is still time to track down a copy of “The Guided Fate Paradox” for PS3 and play it if you haven’t! It’s interesting to note that some of the developers liked “Guided Fate Paradox” more AFTER they had played “The Awakened: Fate Ultimatum” first. So keep that in mind. If you haven’t already played the former game, then it is probably wise to start with this new one, then go back and play the old game if you like it.

Synopsis:

Several years after a certain revolution came to pass, and the powerful Satanael was defeated, the devils were still dominant in their constant war against the angels.

Meanwhile, a certain Celestia was resorting to guerrilla warfare to survive. The angels focused on researching a way to create a “God” to use as their ultimate weapon against the devils.

After creating the “Fate Awakening Crystal,” which can turn a human into God, the angels awaited the day to find someone who would be compatible.

Check out this Story Introduction Trailer:

Walking home from school in the human world, a boy is attacked and stabbed through the heart by a group of devils.

As he lay dying, his life is saved by a mysterious girl. He wakes up in an unfamiliar location known as Celestia.

As if guided by the Fate Awakening Crystal implanted in his chest, he finds himself thrust into the middle of the war between angels and devils.

He must harness his newly awakened powers, choose how to use them, and ultimately decide which of the two new girls in his life he will do anything to save…

Meet Jupiel in this trailer. She is Shin’s exclusively assigned Angel that helps him improve his strength. She’s obsessed with stuffed animals and acts as Shin’s guide during his battles.

The amazing artwork was created by none other than Noizi Ito, the artist behind the hit anime shows “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” and “Shakugan no Shana”.

If you played the previous game, The Guided Fate Paradox, you’ll be familiar with this title. Players will need to navigate through randomly generated dungeons, fighting against angels & demons, collecting tiems and surviving each grid-based level. Choices you make will effect the story and eventually you’ll have to pick a side and choose which girl to save, between Heaven & Hell.

Every move counts in the dungeons, and enemies will move as you do, so being strategic about how you attack will be the key to victory. As with most roguelikes, death has meaning, so if you die, you’ll start way back at the beginning of the dungeon and lose every item you had on you.

Post-dungeon you’ll be required to make some tough decisions, called “Ultimate Choices”, and you’ll have to live with the consequences once you’ve made your selection. These will build your Angel Points or Devil Points (Called “CP” for “Choice Points”) which allow you to advance up the wing-shaped Skill Tree.

Meanwhile main character Shin can be customized by equipping various items & gear, raising his permanent stats and special skills by wisely using CP which will move you up whichever side of the skill tree you choose. Or you can go ALL-ANGEL OR ALL-DEVIL!

Like in Disgaea, characters are high-resolution 3D Sprites, with over-the-top and outrageous animation attacks, with the artwork further highlighted in special scenes throughout the game.

Meet Ariael in this trailer. She is the DEVIL scientist who has created God. She specializes in crystal energetics and uses the Awaken Fate Crystal to make Shin God. She researches humans who have the potential to be God and loves eating instant noodles.

If you are fan of Roguelike RPGs, then NIS America has you covered with The Awakened: Fate Ultimatum!

There aren’t a whole ton of Roguelike RPGs these days that aren’t indie, and even fewer of them that are Eastern and not Western these days… or a game in the Mystery Dungeon series, so it’s great to see another Roguelike title.
