Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden Fighter Announced for 3DS in Japan

Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden has been announced exclusively for Nintendo 3DS in Japan, as the newest game in the Fighting-Genre franchise and the first for 3DS. It is the follow-up to Bandai Namco’s 2011 DS game called “Dragon Ball Kai: Ultimate Butoden”.

Here is video of the DS original, “Dragon Ball Kai: Ultimate Butoden”.

Here’s all the info we have on the game so far:

This newest 3DS game will feature over 100 fighters and feature a 2D fighting game style. It will also feature both one-on-one and team battles.

“Ultimate Arts” finishing moves will be featured, and there will be unique layouts and stages to battle on. The “Z Assist” feature will allow Bulma, Chichi, and other characters to support you in battle. For example, Bulma’s inventions from Capsule will appear to help you out and Chichi’s fury fills the whole screen with a giant speech balloon of her venting.

Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden will be released in Japan this summer (2015). As per usual, no announcement regarding a Western release date has been revealed at this early stage. The game was announced via the Japanese Shueisha’s V Jump Magazine, as you can see by the scan at the top of this page that show off the first information and screenshots on the game.

Note: While the Nintendo DS original game never made it out of Japan, this 3DS sequel has a shot at an English version with Bandai Namco Games releasing many of its more obscure titles (like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) as digital-only download titles (opposed to full retail releases). Which means we’d find out in 2015 if we’ll get the game in English on the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

Are you excited about Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden? Do you think it’ll get a Western release?
