Lego Jurassic World will be released in the second week of June 2015 for nearly all systems — namely PS4, PS3, PS Vita, Wii U, 3DS, PC, Xbox One & Xbox 360 — and is being developed by Traveler’s Tales & published by Warner Bros. The big new feature this time around in Lego Jurassic World, is that players will actually get to play as the Dinosaurs themselves! In addition to the human characters from throughout the entire Jurassic Park film franchise!

That’s right, following in the footsteps of previous franchise-based Lego titles, TT Games isn’t about to let previous material go to waste!

Fans will get to play through levels based on the original “Jurassic Park” film from 1993, 1997’s film sequel, “Jurassic Park: The Lost World”, and even 2001’s third title in the film franchise, “Jurassic Park III”.

And that’s not all, not only will the entire film backlog be playable, but — as the title suggests — Lego Jurassic World will also cover the upcoming 4th film in the franchise, “Jurassic World”, which is set for release in theaters on June 12, 2015.

Not much else is known about the game, but players will be collecting amber, that contains the Dinosaur DNA, hidden throughout the game’s levels, which will allow them to create and customize their very own species of dino! Cool!

“The LEGO videogame franchise remains a cornerstone of our business, consistently delivering fun, engaging gameplay and remarkable humour both kids and adults love,” said David Haddad, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “We look forward to expanding the successful series with this very exciting line-up of new LEGO experiences for players of all ages to enjoy on console, handheld and mobile gaming devices.”

“This year will be the biggest yet for LEGO videogames with these incredible titles and several firsts for the series,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. “TT Games are crafting humorous LEGO adventures, based on new stories and characters across some of the most well-known and iconic worlds.”

Poor Lego T-Rexy.

I never thought I’d see the day when we’d get to play a Lego videogame based on the Jurassic Park franchise!

To me when you say “Lego Jurassic Park”, it sounds like the series is really beginning to stretch itself too thin… But then they announced that players would actually be getting to play AS the dinosaurs….

Do you know how many dinosaurs there are?!

Now it all makes sense… There will be tons & TONS of new characters to play as in this game, and the most fun ones will NOT be human! I can’t wait to see how many different species of dinosaur are in the game and if they are allowed to put dinos that don’t even appear in the films! My bet would be on yes!

Overall this sounds very cool.

I’m especially happy to hear that they will be covering all three classic films in addition to the new one.

Obviously, the kids of today were not alive during most of the original film trilogy, many of them won’t even remember Jurassic Park 3, so all of this old-school content is definitely for us hardcore gamers and older players, who remember seeing Jurassic Park 1 in theaters way back in 1993.

Wow. Was it really that long ago? Jurassic Park was the first movie I ever saw in theaters… Even I was a youngster back then. Proof that we aren’t that old. Yet… 😛

Are you excited about Lego Jurassic World? Is this an exciting turn in the franchise, or do you think they are stretching themselves too thin with the Jurassic Park license?
