Lost Ark has been announced by developer Tripod Studios and publisher SmileGate, and is an all-new Korean Action-MMORPG that features heavy sailing elements aboard your own ship.

Lost Ark plays similarly to Diablo, it is a true Action RPG with fast-paced, awesome-looking combat.

Classes include “Battle Master” (Female Monk, Elemental), “Devil Hunter” (Think Devil May Cry’s Dante, Multi-Weapon), “Arcana” (Gambling & Magic, Roulette), “Warlord” (Tank, Lance Rifle), “Infighter” (Chi Energy, Melee), “Summoner”, and “Berserker” (Rage).
A big part of the game is the Sailing element. Players will acquire their own ship with which they can explore the oceans and find uncharted lands to explore and treasure to discover.
The developers promise plenty of hidden stuff to uncover as well, including Hidden Quests and Hidden Areas, that can be found by say, eavesdropping on some NPCs or by choosing different paths like whether or not to rescue an NPC that’s fallen off a cliff.
Battles take place in real-time on the field, and large groups can work together to attack bosses, you aren’t limited to a “small” party. Raids will also be in the game and will be strategic affairs. And PVP will be featured in the Colosseum.
Many minigames will also be featured, including a Card Game and a Gambling game found in the Tavern.
One of the coolest aspects of the game is what the developers are calling “Cinematic Bosses”, these experiences have enemies that will literally hunt your party as you venture through the dungeon. So as you are making your way up a spiraling walkway, the boss will randomly attempt to eat your buddies and pick off members of your party.
Since this is an Action RPG, you’ll have to quickly run and jump over obstacles in order to escape his flaming breath and jaws. Make it to the top and you’ll finally get to battle him in a boss fight that could be ripped right out of a Devil May Cry game.
No release date is set for the game outside of “2015”, but it WILL be getting a worldwide release.
I’m not into MMO’s but this game immediately impressed me.
The action is fast and awesome and it looks like it has a really high budget with gorgeous graphics.
My brother plays a lot of free MMO’s, and he was greatly impressed by this one. So that’s definitely a good sign. I believe he’ll be checking it out when it launches sometime next year. Maybe I will too. 🙂
