Destiny debuted at #1 this week to much fan anticipation. Developer Bungie made Halo a household name and publisher Activision has bet big on Destiny being their next hit franchise… turns out, it is! They have already shipped (not sold) $500 million’s worth of Destiny games and bundles to retail! And that’s not accounting for digital sales of the game, which have been touted as the highest of any new game series ever.

Sales expectation: If Destiny reaches $600 in sales (both retail & digital) that means there are 10 million players online from day one!

The Nintendo 3DS game sequel came out this week in Japan first. It’s already topping the charts with an expected millions in sales in its first month! After September the game will get a much-hyped global release. For the title of portable king of 2014, Super Smash Bros. will go head-to-head with the upcoming Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire GBA remakes on 3DS.
