“What you’re seeing is a real image of Mickey Mouse and Sora back to back for the first time on a pin. Anyone who preorders the Standard Edition of the game will automatically get upgraded to the Limited Edition while supplies last. This Limited Edition containing this exclusive official Disney pin will be yours right before the holiday.

Of course, you can’t announce something without perfecting every single detail. We’ve looked at every curvature of the pin from the expressions of the characters to the key blade with the Mickey Dangler. The pin badge is made out of a soft enamel coating on metal and at its height it stretches out to 1.68”,” Square Enix explains.

While this is a cool reward, it’s still disappointing for those who wanted the Limited Edition Art Book from the Collector’s Edition of the first game replicated for Kingdom Hearts 2 HD. Or maybe a soundtrack. Especially since the Japanese are getting a limited edition case, music and art booklet. But a pin will have to suffice for us across the pond.

The good news is that Square Enix has realized that it will look sad to put a smaller box of HD Remix II next to a large box of HD Remix 1, so they are going to make both boxes the same size even though this Limited Edition doesn’t include an art book. Or at least, they say they are striving to make sure it doesn’t look weird on a shelf when the two games are next to each other. (It’s worth noting that you can still by the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix Limited Edition, that includes the artbook, via amazon. However it will run you about $80 bucks.)

Here’s a trailer for Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix.

Kingdom Hearts 2.5: HD Remix includes three unforgettable games: Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix (An updated version of Kingdom Hearts 2 for PS2 only released in Japan), Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep: Final Mix (An updated version of Birth By Sleep released for PSP released only in Japan), and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded (Originally released for DS, an updated compilation of a Japanese mobile episodic game. Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded in 2.5 HD Remix is not playable, but rather features 3 hours of cutscenes taken from the DS game but remastered in HD. Similar to how Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix featured HD cutscenes taken from the GBA/PS2 title Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories).

Origins of Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep Final Mix traverses through the origins of Kingdom Hearts 1 as players can choose between three Keyblade Masters – Terra, Ventus, or Aqua – Their journeys will link everything back to the beginning.

This version of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix marks the first time this game will be released on the PlayStation 3.

New to North America: Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix bring all new content with the addition of new cutscenes, mini-games, enemies, weapons, and much more that have never been released in the USA.

Not only have the graphics on each game been completely overhauled in high-definition to adapt to the PlayStation 3, but Kingdom Hearts Re:coded has been converted into HD remastered cinematics with all new cutscenes featuring all of your favorite Kingdom Hearts characters!

Glad to see Square Enix including SOMETHING extra for fans. It’s better than nothing so I don’t think fans should complain, but it’s hard to get super excited for a pin… At least for most kids these days (what do you do with a pin anyway? :P).

Still I’m glad to see Sony releasing an HD Remix of Kingdom Hearts 2… Hopefully now that Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix is out soon, they will release Kingdom Hearts 3, and then immediately get to work on doing an even more improved HD Remix of all three games for the PlayStation 4 and/or Xbox One, so that the next-gen system and it’s many future owners will get to experience the Kingdom Hearts magic. I wish Square Enix would also consider a Wii U release of Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix, but Sony probably has some say over that which is why you are only seeing it on the PS3.

Even though it will be a port, hopefully Sony is already at work convincing Square to spruce it up so they can added another quick hit to the PS4 roster. This game is sure to be a big seller.

Personally I never got around to playing Kingdom Hearts and I really feel like I missed out, being an RPG and a Disney fan. I can’t wait to pick these two games up whenever I get around to buying a PS3.

How excited are you for Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix?
