Saving Fergus from Deathshead in “Chapter 1: Deathshead’s Compound” gives you the ability to hack circuits (called the hotwire ability), which grants you access to alternate navigation routes and Health Upgrades.

Finding all 10 Health Upgrade locations and picking them up will help unlock the following:
* Find all the Health Upgrades in the Fergus Timeline will unlock the maximum 200 HP (double Health Pickup Value). Each collected Health Upgrade increases your maximum Health by 10 Health Points, until you max it out at 200 Health Points.

How to find missing Health Upgrades?: In-game the Health Upgrades will be hidden in locked metal safes and such. Walk up to each locked safe and the hack circuits icon will appear for you to take action to open up the door. Once you finish the hotwiring sequence the safe will open. Inside you’ll see the actual Health Upgrade looks like a bronze statue of a soldier with a helmet that has the ‘Red Cross’ health icon on it (with a brown-ish glow around the whole statue) that you can pick up to collect when you stand next to it. It can be confirmed as being a Health Upgrade simply by walking up to & looking at it, as the on-screen icon will then indicate you can press the action button/key (X on Xbox / Square on PlayStation) to pick up the Health Upgrade.

Tip: By holding down the back/select-button you can see how many collectibles you have found in the current mission.

Note: Although no collectibles are missable, you can search for missing items via chapter select at any time during or after completing the story. In chapter select you can see how many collectibles you have found per level. You can of course also open up the collectible menu while playing a chapter.

Does the game save each Health Upgrade you collect?: Yes, the game will automatically save the Health Upgrades you just collected (granted you picked up the Health Upgrade you encountered), so you don’t have to play to the next checkpoint or the end of the chapter. After picking up each collectible you can safely quit the mission without losing collectibles progress, and your progress even carries over to a brand new game. Which is ideal when you’re playing on a higher difficulty level on your second playthrough, since you can then max out both your Health AND your Armor (check the list at the top of this page to see we have guides for both).
