Namco Bandai Games today announced that Spawn and Heihachi will be available on both the Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network versions of Soul Calibur 2 HD Online.
Originally exclusive guest characters for their respective platforms when the game was originally released in 2003 on Xbox and PlayStation 2, this will be the first time the two characters will be playable together on the same console!
Here’s the Soul Calibur 2 HD Online debut trailer again:
Developed by Project Soul, the elite development team at Namco Bandai Studios, Soul Calibur II HD Online reimagines the beloved weapon-based 3D fighter by adding online multiplayer support to the title as well as vibrant updated graphics to take advantage of modern high definition TVs. Heralded as one of the best fighting games of all-time, Soul Calibur II returns to consoles this year in celebration of its 10-year anniversary.
No exact launch date has been given. Soul Calibur II HD Online will be available for download in Fall 2013 on Xbox Live for Xbox 360 and PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 systems.
I’ll be honest, at first I wasn’t going to get it since Link on GameCube was my favorite and there’s no Wii U remake coming. But having both other formerly platform-exclusive characters in the same game is going to be a new experience. Besides, they were never going to get the Nintendo-exclusive Link playable on other platforms anyway, so this is the best-case scenario for this remake. Pretty awesome!
