Skyrim Redguard DLC Rumors

After The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim DLC’s Dawnguard, Hearthfire & Dragonborn we may get a 4th DLC titled Redguard, if recent findings from OXM Magazine are to be believed. Naturally this will revolve around the most talented warriors in all of Tamriel, the Redguards of Hammerfell.

To quote the magazine: “Files hidden away in the most recent patch for Skyrim included dialogue and animation files for the Snow Elf Prince, as well as animation files for crossbows.

The Snow Elves previously populated Skyrim before the Nords fought them out, and the surviving Elves eventually turned into the underground Falmer race. Though Bethesda hasn’t yet commented on the potential DLC, the company’s VP of PR Pete Hines said on Twitter he hopes to have more news about Skyrim downloadable content next week.” Although he did add via Twitter that “Sorry, I don’t comment on every rumor that comes up.”

Bethesda’s parent company Zenimax has recently renewed a trademark for the term “Redguard” in the context of “downloadable computer game software offered via the internet and wireless devices”. Originally done so in March 2011, then renewed in August 2012, and will be up for renewal again in February 2013. But it’s unclear what it’ll be about since the company hasn’t filed a Statement of Use yet.

The Redguards have been described as “descended from a long line of warriors and mystic seers. Legend has it that Redguards are innately more proficient with the use of weaponry than any other race. They are excellent in all arts concerning blade and shield.”

We now take a trip back to 1998 when Bethesda released The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard.

I don’t think it would be a good dlc. if it revolved around only redguards. now if it was called something else, involved elf lore a wearwolf dlc. where you can take over skyrim like with the stormcloaks. a whole race of wearwolves that are oppressed and want to rule skyrim and are sick of all the other races fighting with one another that would be cool. but redguard I hope its just a rumor.. fingers crossed

Eh.. that’s Dawnguard and it was released several months ago. Do these guys even play the game?

Redguard would be a cool DLC.
However I doubt they can make an entire province, so I think it’s more likely to revolve around Dragonstar, the city divided between Nords and Redguards.
Also I found this map for Shadowkey (bellow), so maybe they could make something like that.

There is also the possibility that “Redguard” was trademarked so Bethesda can release it as a free download game, like they did with Arena and Daggerfall.

@jawa um, Skyrim doesn’t revolve around Nords, and Dragonborn doesn’t revolve around the Dunmer, so I don’t see where your logic is coming from.

Do you know what knobs me off? Its people that complain and try to impose their own narrow views on what a dlc should be or involve. I will be very happy, even excited when Redguard surfaces whatever the content, location, races involved or story. I will be glad to keep on playing skyrim for as long as possible while there’s things to do there. If people who are building Redguard up to be their version of the perfect dlc end up being disappointed then don’t buy it, shut up and let the rest of us enjoy it.

Redguard as a new dlc could be a good concept! Because of their superior combat skills, they will be either worthy opponents, or valuable allies. Their initial attitude towards the dragonborn might depend on how the player handled the situation with the Alik’r warriors in Whiterun during the ‘In My Time Of Need’ quest. With that in mind, the dlc could be initiated trough a formal invitation to honour the dragonborn’s noble deeds, or the dragonborn might be succesfully abducted out of Skyrim on official orders to stand trial for his crimes against the Redguard people. I’d love some more dlc involving the Thalmor or the Dwemer as well…
