How To Unlock All Lego Lord of the Rings Characters

How to unlock all secret Lego Lord of the Rings characters? That question will be answered in our guide that shows you how and who to unlock to get the full roster of Lego Lord of the Rings unlockable characters on Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, PC, PS Vita, 3DS & DS.

Play Tip: The majority of the Lego The Lord of the Rings characters are unlocked from finishing story missions (the Story Mode Levels). Some are just fully unlocked from completing missions, others are made available to purchase with studs. Some characters you could otherwise buy, can be unlocked via cheat codes as well as 10 via Middle-earth Characters Pack downloadable content (DLC)* which appear as blacked out in the bottom row of the character select screen. All of which are listed below.

How To Buy Characters & Map Tip: There is no one location to buy characters in this game. Instead, you must find them walking around in areas of the overworld, by exploring this Middle-earth open world hub. — This is made quite easy once you access the Map Stones in the area, as the characters appear as big circles of their face on the map and you can set waypoints on them to reach them directly.

When To Buy Characters: Please note, most characters are not able to be purchased until you have finished the Story Mode missions of the game. Also, be sure to have a good amount of studs on you if you plan on trying to buy a few characters in one session.

Here’s the funny Lego Lord of the Rings launch trailer showing off the main characters.

* There are 10 spots on the character select screen, which are reserved for downloadable content (DLC) characters in the Xbox 360 & PS3 versions. Which at first will only be available via pre-order, but are sure to be released in two packs sometime after release (each with 5 characters in it). – Usually the other system versions have such characters readily available in-game.

As Gandalf move any of the three onto the lego base. Then as the other character, jump onto the piece. Then, quickly, switch to the other character and walk forward and you should be able to land easily up top and then buy Elrond who will be right in front of you.

Then, as Legolas, swing your way to the top and land on the raised area. Then destroy the bricks blocking a hobbit hole. 30. Gandalf the White
How To Unlock: Unlocked for finishing the tenth story mission, Warg Attack.
  31. Gil-Galad
How To Unlock: This one is a little complicated and was the last I got. Gil-galad is behind a gate you have to open with a crank south of Mount Doom. Trouble is, the only crank nearby is a good walk northeast from there. On the map, find mount doom and go east. North of the D in Mordor will be a small stone tower near the mountain. As Sam, dig up a bounce plant and bounce and land on the small tower. Then, use the Berserker or mithril fireworks to destroy the mithril block. Now you have to use Merry’s fishing rod which will get you the crank. Now you have to run the crank down to the gate, put it in and turn it. Gil-galad is in that cave.
Note that it’s recommended you watch Part 3 of our characters video (shown above) to see how Gil-Galad can be unlocked.

Special Abilities: Shatters cracked LEGO rocks and floor tiles with his mighty Axe. He can be thrown great distances by other characters. Access to Hobbit holes, and crawl spaces.
  33. Gloin
How To Unlock: Fast travel to the Rivendell map stone and go to the southern end of town where the waterfalls are. Move across the small islands until you reach the far side where a cave is blocked by the shiny mithril blocks. Using the Berserker or mithril fireworks, blow them up and Gloin will be standing in the cave. But, I’d like to mention that I tried this four times, twice during the day, twice at night and he was not there. It was not until during the day, with a waypoint set on his character token on the map, that he was in the cave, so you might have to do that, too.
    Price: 25,000 studs.
Code To Unlock: Cheat may unlock after doing a Lego LOTR Survey on legosurvey.com/LOTR.

    Price: 125,000 studs.
  40. Haldir
How To Unlock: Near the Lothlorien Elf is a massive roofed staircase flanked by statues. Up those stairs on a platform by himself will be Haldir.
    Price: 200,000 studs.
  41. Hama
    Code To Unlock: 73HJP6.
How To Unlock: In Edoras, Hama is most often standing in a guard tower along the tall fence. That tower is hard to get to because of the steep hill, so you have to carefully double jump over to him.
