Mission 8: Midnight
The 8th mission ends with the final boss fight against the ancient evil known as Didact.
Objective 1: With the Composer in the Didact’s possession, Chief and Cortana must destroy the device before he turns it on his next target.
Objective 2: Within slipspace, the Master Chief hunts for the Composer along the hull of the Didact’s ship.
Objective 3: Master Chief and an increasingly unstable Cortana infiltrate the Didact’s ship as he prepares to use the Composer against Earth. Find a route back to the Composer.
Tip: As Cortana opens each consequent portal for you to move forward into, you can skip fighting all the enemy forces in the vicinity and run right past them into each next portal.
Objective 4: The final battle with the Didact looms as Master Chief and Cortana arrive at the Composer. Disable the Composer’s shielding to take the bomb to the core. It’s alright, but you must hurry, a now rampant Cortana assures the Chief.
Optional Objective: In Mission 8, kill 3 Crawlers in one hit with the Gravity Hammer. Successfully doing this will unlock the “Chief, Smash!” Achievement worth 20 Gamerscore Points.
Important ending note: After the Ending cinematic plays, wait around a little longer until the Credits have rolled, then you’ll get to watch the after-credits Epilogue cinematic!

PS: The only thing the Legendary difficulty mode ending adds is a 1-second snapshot of Chief’s eye-area with his eyes blackened in shade
