At today’s Metal Gear 25th Anniversary Event in Japan, Konami officially announced the Metal Gear Solid Movie! Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima came on stage at the event together to confirm the movie’s producer is none other than Avi Arad! Marvel fans will know Avi Arad as the famed producer behind all Spider-Man, Hulk & X-Men movies.
On stage they proudly said that the Metal Gear Solid Movie is once again in development. The Metal Gear Solid Movie has been said to be in development as far back as 2006, but these are the first “solid” clues it’s really happening. 🙂
Hideo Kojima said something along the lines of: “I have been searching many years for someone who could realize the project. I believe Arad can definitely do it.”
Avi Arad said something along the lines of: “I promise to make a fantastic movie that stays faithful to the spirit of Kojima’s Metal Gear.”
Film production and distributon is in hands of the Sony Pictures owned Columbia Pictures.
That’s all that is known right now. So we’ll have guess whether or not the movie will adapt any or all of the game’s storylines or if they’ll write an entirely new story for Snake’s live-action big screen debut.
Experience what a live-action Metal Gear Solid movie could look like with this non-profit fan-made hour-long movie called “Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy”. Hideo Kojima himself has watched this movie and said that he thinks it’s awesome and a well made movie. 🙂
