Darksiders 2 Walkthrough

Awakened by the End of Days, Death, the most feared of the legendary Four Horsemen embarks on a quest to undo Armageddon. Along the way, the Horseman discovers that there are far worse things than an earthly Apocalypse, and that an ancient grudge may threaten all of Creation. Become the terrifying force which everything fears but nothing can escape. Death Lives in Darksiders 2.

Like the original Darksiders game before it, the second game in the series is primarily a hack ‘n slash adventure. The game takes place across netherworld environments, including “The White city,” an outpost where angels live, and “The Eternal Throne,” a floating fortress where the Lords of the Dead stand guard over souls that need to be cleansed. Although Death is the most feared of the Four Horsemen, his physical abilities are very different than his brother, War. Death is far more nimble, and relies on a combination of melee and ranged attacks. In combat Death’s primary weapon is his huge iconic scythe, with a wide range of other weapons and usable items that must be gathered as the game progresses. Weapons can be dual-wielded, upgradable armor can be acquired for protection and Death has access to a terrifying and powerful pale mount.

How To Prevent Save File Corruption?

This is a warning for when you’re getting close to the Darksiders 2 ending, when you’re working your way to opening The Well of Souls during the game’s last few chapters. There have been sporadic reports of the game freezing when autosaving a few minutes before the final boss fight, which then corrupts your entire save file, forcing you to start the game all over again. 🙁
Solution: While there’s no way to actually prevent your one Darksiders 2 save file from getting corrupted if you’re unlucky enough to have it happen (it’s random unless THQ releases a patch to fix the issue). Still, it’s recommended you backup your save game after you’ve saved and then turned off the game for the day. At the very least I know that it’s possible to backup the save file to USB drive on Xbox 360, and on PC you can copy the save file elsewhere on your computer for safekeeping when you finish a chapter near the end of the game.

New Game + Progress Erased Warning:

It’s recommended you do not finish Darksiders 2 until you’ve found all collectibles. That’s because after you’ve finished Darksiders 2 for the first time, you’ll unlock “New Game +” mode. When you enter “New Game +” everything resets except for your rank! That means all your hard earned collectibles are erased as well as any progress you made through other side quests will be gone, as you’ll have to start those over as well.

How To Find & Fight Gorewood?

Gorewood can be found in the Weeping Crag. See here where he’s located in this video walkthrough of the area.

How To Easily Beat Bheithir?

Here’s Thane’s Side Quest to kill Bheithir and the Flame Dragon Location.

To easily beat Bheithir you must lure Bheithir to the fighting platform’s right side. Lock onto her until you walk backwards to the right, then with the right timing you fall into a small section of the platform from where you can shoot Bheithir without getting hurt by her fire. After a short while she’ll start to fly and a victory cutscene plays.

How To Dislodge Objects In Your Way?

Shadowbomb dislodge tip: Shadowbombs explode with devastating force. Anything in the blast radius will be blown away or destroyed. The force of a bomb blast can be used to move large objects.

Chapter 1: The Keeper of Secrets

Introduction, The Dark Fortress & Boss Fight: The Crowfather AKA War’s Shade

Welcome to the Darksiders 2 walkthrough! Let’s get started with a story introduction cutscene. Death rides forth in order to save his brother War from certain doom.

Find a way to save War. Find the Keeper of Secrets. Go through the Veil and the Dark Fortress where you meet the Crowfather, who holds the amulet containing the souls of Death’s fabled kin, the Nephilim.

How to beat The Crowfather AKA War’s Shade Boss Fight tips:
This is the first story related boss fight in the game and it cannot be missed.
The Crowfather will transform into War (the main protagonist from Darksiders 1). He will use relatively weak short range sword attacks against you. Evade all attacks until he slows down, then power up a heavy strike with your second weapon (Hold Triangle on PS3 / Y on X360). Towards the end you should use a bunch of strike combos to evade faster. Once the Crowfather’s health bar is depleted you have to finish him off by pressing Circle (PS3) / B (Xbox 360). – Tip thanks to Powerpyx

Chapter 2: Fire of the Mountain

Tri-Stone, Road to the Cauldron – The Forge Lands & The Charred Pass

A dying Crowfather banishes Death into The Forge Lands where he meets the elder Maker Eideard who instructs you to make your way Tri-Stone where you first meet and speak to Alya and Thane. Alya instructs Death to fix the Cauldron dungeon, so the Makers may forge once more.

Death travels through various terrain in the Forge Lands to bring you to the Cauldron. To find your way to the Cauldron, from Tri-Stone, go via the Stonefather’s Vale, through The Weeping Crag, following the road through the Baneswood, until you reach The Charred Pass.

Tip: Possessed weapons gain experience when items are sacrificed to them.

The Cauldron Dungeon & Boss Fight: Gharn

Let’s solve the Cauldron dungeon’s puzzles step by step, and do a boss fight against Gharn.

Note: If you talk to Karn before entering the dungeon he’ll give you the “Lost and Found” side quest for you to find Karn’s Silver Platter (this Journeyman Platter treasure is found at 24:00) in The Cauldron for a reward upon exiting and talking to him again. The reward is 2241 XP and 2500 Gilt.

How to beat Gharn Boss Fight tips:
Focus on his charging attacks, evade them by dodging them with the right shoulder button.
The moment his stops chasing you with his weapon, get in there and hit him as hard as you can before he can recover and continue his charging attacks.
Be careful to avoid his yellow explosion (or is it an implosion or shield?), because that’s not him being destroyed, it an attack meant to hurt you.

Defeating Gharn will grant you the Dark Avenger! This weapon once belonged to the human warrior known as Draven. During countless duels, the weapon absorbed Draven’s own rage and thirst for revenge against those who wronged him. The Dark Avenger is infamous for possessing a furious lust for blood and carnage.

Next, you must return to Alya in Tri-Stone to get your next task.
