Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 is being rumored for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for a Winter 2012 release by Namco Bandai!
Updated Story: Sadly, it turns out last week’s V Jump announcement by jin115.com for “Dragon Ball Sparking Omega” — what the Budokai Tenkaichi series is called in Japan — was false.
Scans have revealed the story was actually about a Japan-only Arcade game called Dragon Ball Zenkai Battle Royal Super Saiyan Awakening. Which apparently gets updated to add Super Saiyans Goku, Vegeta, Gohan and Trunks as new characters. Below is a scan from the magazine.
What can I say but “this sucks”. I was really hoping for a sequel to finally come out! But not all hope is lost. The good news is that E3 2012 from June 5-8 will have Namco Bandai revealing their next Dragon Ball Z console title for this year.
Thanks to Andriasang for the clarification.
Original Story: Japanese magazine V Jump’s May issue has the first look at the long-awaited Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkachi 3 sequel, titled “Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! Omega” in Japan.
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 is said to be the “final form of the Budokai Tenkachi series.” As such, Namco Bandai are promising the fighting game will feature the largest number of characters in the series’ history. Right out of the gate Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta from Dragon Ball GT have been confirmed as part of the roster!
Let’s hope we’ll get Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 screenshots and trailers soon. This title was formerly known as Dragon Ball Game Project Age 2012. Maybe now we’ll finally get that back in 2007 promised real Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 character creator?
It’s no wonder we’re also getting a Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi HD Collection this year, it’ll be great to have all four games in the series on both PS3 & Xbox 360.
