Amazon listings have confirmed the Lego Batman 2 release date is June 19th in America and June 22nd, 2012 in Europe.

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes will be released on: Nintendo Wii, PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo DS.

This newest Lego action-adventure is a game of firsts, meaning for the first time:

    • An open-world sandbox (Gotham City) will be available for players to play in between levels.
    • Instead of giving the characters grunts and other sound effect voice actors were hired to deliver full dialogue.
    • The game’s story will not be based on movies or TV series, but instead be an original storyline.
    • Batman and Robin will be teaming up with the Justice League, hence the game’s subtitle “DC Super Heroes”.
    • Superman brings all-new abilities including flight, super-breath, and heat vision!

Fantastic! The long wait is soon to come to an end as Lego fans will be able to continue their journey with the caped crusader and his crime fighting cohorts.
Just as I predicted before, in the previous intro article on rumors of the release of this game, that the storyline has the possibility of being original which has now been confirmed. Moreover with my speculations, the superheroes have certain powers beyond limitation. Such as Superman’s heat vision, flight, and super-breath. However, TT games is specifically stating Superman’s powers, then maybe they are trying to promote the game and avoid stating the fact that the other superheroes might not possess the same ability to use their natural powers.
Now that it is confirmed that Batman and Robin will be teaming up with the Justice League of America, you can already indicate that this game will be a hit! I was going to say ”thrill ride”, but Lego games do not provide a thrill feel but rather a comedic and loony one.
What really surprises me is that fact that TT games is now incorporating real voice actors instead of grunts and mumbles. I am not sure what the outcome would be of that. TT games has been using grunts and mumbles throughout the whole Lego series, it is a drastic move to suddenly jump into voice acting. Now there is two sides to this. One side is that they can replace the grunts and mumbles, which are usually used in a ”cartoony” sense, with voice acting that is also used in a ”cartoony” sense. Such as playing around with low or high pitched voices or using stereotypical voices, for example if they are any encounters with the Gotham City Police in the game, which I am sure there is, then maybe TT games might use the stereotypical low grunting voice that most officers in New York posses. Also TT games can use sarcastic voices which are suitable for making jokes. The second side is that they can replace grunts and mumbles with actual serious voice acting, where the characters talk in such a way that it implies that they are only focused on the objective at hand. Now this move is very dangerous because it can have a huge effect on the series, because TT games is trying this for the first time and fans are usually use to the grunts which lead to comedic jokes and scenes. If TT games were to remove that effect completely then the outcome is unpredictable as some fans might dislike the new approach and others might be fond of it. In result, it could effect the Lego series reputation, and TT games could lose a lot of sales but that is a different perspective itself.
I guess we will have to see what TT games has in store for all the Lego fans who are anxiously waiting for this game to hit store shelves. In my opinion, this game will be amazing and I can’t wait for the release! :)

Hey there is a market for all games–its a plus up when a game line follows successive movies.I have all 10 of them and played all at least 8x each–Star Wars III (Clones War),Pirates of the Caribbean, and Harry Potter Yrs 5-7, excessively.  Never get tire of them–keep making them..LOTR, Spiderman, X-men, and you fill in the blanks_ _ _ _ _ _

Surely supermcawsomevill that is the whole point of the lego games!   Thousands of people disagree with you, me included.   Really looking forward to this one – like Tarawa I have all the Lego games and play them often – hope you are doing a walkthrough though Ferry !
